Tourism Expo 2007

Tourism Expo 2007 is on Feb. 5 at the Professional Education and Conference Center at the Kent State University Stark Campus in Canton and is sponsored by the Convention and Visitors’ Bureaus of Carroll, Coshocton, Holmes, Medina, Portage, Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties and hosted by the Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) located at Kent State Tuscarawas, Kent State Stark, the Kent Campus and the Akron SBDC. Other sponsors include the Akron Area Chamber of Commerce, Akron-Canton Airport and the Professional Education and Conference Center at Kent State Stark.

Comprised of a trade show and educational program, the Expo is dedicated to small businesses that cater to tourism so they may become better competitors and bring more tourism to the area.

Kicking off the educational program which focuses on several marketing topics including Internet marketing, customer service and competition that will help local tourism based businesses be more competitive is Russ Vernon proprietor of the West Point Market in Akron, Ohio. A second generation owner, Mr. Vernon grew up in the business experiencing the Market’s growth and 7 expansions since 1941.
