Millersburg, Ohio — Recently, the Akron Beacon Journal asked its readers which bed & breakfasts were the best in Northeastern Ohio. The results, published in the ABJ’s Discover Northeast Ohio magazine, showed half of the top ten reader favorites are located in Holmes County and are members of the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau.
The Lamplight Inn, located in Berlin and owned by Larry and Helen Wilgus, topped the list with more than 5,000 votes. “Helen and I are very grateful to have this recognition for Holmes County. I believe her home-cooked breakfasts and my music sets our B&B apart from most get-aways,” Larry said.
This inn offers a full, sit-down breakfast featuring serenades from the grand piano by Larry, who’s known as the Singing Innkeeper. Breathtaking views from the wrap-around porch, Jacuzzis and fireplaces round out the luxury found at the Lamplight Inn.
The Inn at Honey Run, Amish Door’s Hasseman House B&B, Donna’s Premier Lodging and Charm Countryview Inn also represented Amish Country in the top 10 B&Bs in Northeastern Ohio.
The Inn at Honey Run features 43 rooms and a guesthouse on 70 acres. Guests may explore the walking paths amid woodlands and pastures. Their full-service dining room offers creative cuisine, fine wine and spirits.
Next on the list, the Amish Door’s Hasseman House B&B provides a romantic Victorian-age home, complete with antiques. Two of the four enchanting guest rooms offer Jacuzzis.
Donna’s Premier Lodging provides 17 luxurious units: log cabins, chalets, suites and cottages, providing an oasis of relaxation and romance. Each strikingly beautiful unit is complete with bubbly Jacuzzi and fireplace.
A beautiful hillside bed & breakfast, the Charm Countryview Inn has 15 uniquely decorated rooms with oak furniture and handmade quilts. A full, country breakfast, spacious front porch and spectacular view top off the guests’ experience.
“This is a wonderful example of the quality of product our whole county has to offer as far as inns, b&bs and hotels,” said Kent Miller, President of the Holmes County Tourism Bureau and member of the Holmes County Chamber Board of Directors.
“This just shows the dedication the lodging operators in Holmes County have to continue providing a quality product. Congratulations to those recognized.”
All five of the local B&B’s listed on the top 10 can be found on the Chamber’s website at www.visitamishcountry.com/lodging.php.
